@The_Bedside

began in 2014 as a NYC pub crawl reading and has since grown into an acclaimed annual storytelling event that showcases interdisciplinary caregiver narrative. In hopes of promoting public literacy about health care, readings feature original stories by internationally known health care policy experts, authors, educators and administrators alongside novice bedside clinicians and students.

Acknowledging the importance of themes in health care and health policy, we structure annual readings and initiatives around pressing trends and issues.

2018: TBD

2017: Patient Experience

Writers contributed and performed original stories written to the prompt of questions from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey, our national means of collecting and publicly reporting on patient’s experience of their care while in the hospital.
In addition to our annual community health literacy event in May of 2017, on July 1, 2017, @The_Bedside opened a call for story submissions to an anthology of patient experience called Never, Sometimes, Usually, Always. Submissions are closed and under review.

2016: Interdisciplinary Care

2015: Nursing Stories
